AeroDragons -
GREAT ULTIMATE FOOTBALL/VOLLEYBALL practices last SAT guys. It's truly AMAZING how competitive (and underhanded) our own team members (RENAL, for instance) can be when you set them against each other! I'm glad WE are all on the SAME team . . .
WISH the HOUSTON crew good luck at the Texas Dragon Boat Association's 3rd Annual October Regatta --- hoping to bring home MORE GOLD!
THANKS to Anthony who helped recruit at the Aerospace October Festival on WED.
SAVE THE DATE - SAT 12/9 FOR THE NAPLES BOAT PARADE. Thanks to Deborah Lowe for volunteering to put together this event for us!
TEAM USA pictures (over 300) I took from Taiwan are up on http://www.ladragonboat.com
PRACTICE SAT/SUN --- PLEASE RSVP for SAT/SUN practice, make sure you arrive PROMPTLY at 9:30AM SAT or 8:30AM SUN for warm-up.
LAND TRAINING --- Make sure you are doing 50 each sit-ups, push-ups and squats --- 3X/week!
DON'T PARK ON APPIAN WAY - use the Boy Scout parking south of the 2nd St. bridge, or the metered parking.
REMEMBER in case of rain/sewage spill or other extenuating circumstance, find out status of practice by calling my cell phone at (310) 749-3592 after 8:00 AM on day of practice for a recorded message . . .
EAT SOMETHIN' in the morning before you come to practice (think bananas, energy bars, carbs/protein, etc..). Your body needs food to produce energy to paddle. We don't want you to get sick while out on the water. Also, bring water or Gatorade to hydrate yourself while paddling.
Have a great weekend & week and see you on the water!!

UPDATE 10/6 - Hi All ---
As of today (10/6) at 6AM, Mother's Beach is still closed although the bacteria counts are down at the North end of the beach. They think they have found the source of the problem and feel the beach should be open in a few days (unsure what "a few days" means). Mike spoke to the Health department at 4PM today and the counts are still high.
I'd still like to meet at Mother's SAT morning to go to breakfast or coffee --- we can just touch base and at least go over details for Houston and give out medals for San Francisco.
SUN practice is CANCELLED. That leaves us only next weekend to practice as a team for Houston - please keep up with your land training - make sure you concentrate on ENDURANCE the next weeks to prepare for the 1000m race.
HOUSTON folks --- I've only gotten travel info from the Edison crew and 2 AeroDragons --- please send me your travel details (when you'll be in Houston, when you're leaving, where you're staying, etc.) as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance!
--- M.
